HAZARD IDENTIFICATION ASSISTANT

WHAT IS ASIPEL?

ASIPEL (HAZard Identification Assistant) is a computer-based system designed to support the facilitation and documentation of process risk analysis studies.

It implements the main techniques used for hazard identification and risk assessment, including HAZOP, What-If, HAZID, and Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA).

ROBUSTNESS

The software is highly robust and flexible, and can be customized to meet the user's specific requirements and preferences.

It also provides connectivity with other software tools used for the analysis of SIFs (Safety Instrumented Functions).

PLATFORMS

ASIPEL runs on Microsoft Windows operating systems.

The software supports multilingual operation, both in the user interface and in its databases. Currently available languages include Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, and Italian.

RISK ASSESSMENT

ASIPEL provides different methods for risk assessment, including two-dimensional risk matrices, the CEL method, and the LOPA method.

It also allows multiple matrices to be used for different impact categories.

Risk can be assessed at three stages for each scenario:

Initial or intrinsic risk — without considering protection layers.
Current risk — considering existing protection layers.
Residual risk — considering additional protection measures.

These assessments can be performed for impacts on people, the environment, and economic performance.

DATA MANAGEMENT

ASIPEL provides a range of features designed to facilitate data entry and ensure consistency, including:

Auto-suggestions
Inline spell checking
Auto-completion using industry acronyms and mnemonics
Copying of existing elements
Importing information from previous studies
And other data management tools

PREVIOUS PROJECTS

ASIPEL allows previous projects to be revalidated when assessment criteria change, when a scenario is re-characterized, or when a new working group or documentation set is introduced.

All ASIPEL reports are editable and generated in Microsoft Word format.
